The Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa has completed the purchase of 93 acres for an off-reservation casino in Shullsburg, Wisconsin.
The tribe paid $320,000 for the land, according to news reports. The land will be used for a casino and hotel complex. A waterpark and 18-hole golf course are also planned. The tribe is asking the Bureau of Indian Affairs to take the land into trust, a move supported by the city. The state governor, though, would need to concur with any decision made on the land.
