Turtle Mountain Band to discuss urban casino

Tuesday, January 25, 2005

Leaders of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians will present their plan for an off-reservation casino in Grand Forks, North Dakota, today.

The tribe will first meet with charitable organizations concerned that a casino will hurt their fund-raising operations. Later, the tribe will meet with the public to discuss the proposal.

Other tribes in the state oppose off-reservation gaming. They say it will draw business away from their on-reservation casinos.
