Monday, May 9, 2005
"For those who'd like a brief history without having to read any stories, I've selected some headlines that best summarize the events of the past 15 years.
Which Indian tribe will run the casinos?
Indians stake future
on roll of the dice but the Oneidas may fall short. The
Oneidas dumped for Mohawks, leaving Mohawks puzzled. Even so, Mohawks
given contract. But when Mohawk chief sent to jail the Casino deal
stalls! But wait! Wisconsin Mohicans work on casino deal even
as St. Regis Mohawk Tribe goes by different name. But Monticello wants
Cayugas. The Cayugas visit Raceway while the Oneidas close in on
deal. Inexplicably, The Modoc have long history in Old West
while the Unkechaugs may face state wrath. Meanwhile, Senecas
join race for casino as Pataki announces Cayuga deal. But the
Cayuga deal folds. So that's who'll be running the casinos."
