Oklahoma tribe sues in hopes of landing casino deal

The Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma filed suit against the state of Ohio on Monday in hopes of negotiating a gaming compact.

The tribe is claiming more than 93,000 acres of ancestral land in western and southern Ohio. But Chief Charles Enyart said he'd drop the suit for a casino deal.

The tribe has signed casino agreements with four towns. But the state won't negotiate a compact, saying the tribe has no lawful claim in Ohio.

Other Oklahoma tribes have tried similar tactics to gain out-of-state land but none have succeeded.
