Two California tribes are using gaming revenues to fund county law enforcement.
The Blue Lake Rancheria gave $125,000 to the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office to fund two deputies. The tribe gave $125,000 last year as well. The Bear River Band of Rohnerville Rancheria also gave $135,000 for two years to fund one deputy position. "What were doing that for is basically to help alleviate the neighbors concerns about the lapse in time for the sheriff's response time to the casino," chairman Leonard Bowman told The Eureka Reporter.
