The Bois Forte Band of Chippewa in northern Minnesota is seeing success with its casino resort but is moving beyond gaming to diversify its economy.
The tribe recently purchased a touch-free car wash manufacturer, a radio station and a convenience store. Tribal and gaming officials say it's part of a long-term strategy to develop new businesses. The Fortune Bay Resort Casino and the Wilderness, an 18-hole golf course that opened in July 2004, employ 500 people, most of whom are non-Indian. Get the Story:
