The Cabazon Band of Mission Indians is negotiating a new contract with the former chief executive officer of the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.
James H. McKennon's contract expired last Thursday. He told a Palm Springs paper that he was moving "onto a new project." Cabazon Chairman John James said the tribe wanted new management amid financial and other concerns. But a Riverside paper is reporting that the tribe wants McKennon back. The tribe opened the $200 million casino in January 2005 and has since run into cash-flow problems that were blamed on the casino management. The tribe laid off 40 people and asked top casino execs to resign. Get the Story:
