NIGC tells Tonkawa Tribe, manager to close casino

Monday, February 6, 2006

The National Indian Gaming Commission has issued a notice of violation against the Tonkawa Tribe of Oklahoma and the manager of the tribe's casino.

The NIGC says Edward Street and his company, Oakland Enterprises, have been operating the Tonkawa Bingo and Casino without an approved management contract. All such contracts must be approved under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.

The notice of violation requires the temporary closure of the casino. The Tonkawa tribe says it will appeal the order.
