Cabazon Band close to deal on casino builder lawsuit

The Cabazon Band of Mission Indians is said to be close to a deal with a construction company that helped build the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.

The tribe hired Matt Construction to oversee construction of the $300 million facility. A dispute arose, with Matt filing a lawsuit in federal court over $9 million the company says hasn't been paid.

The tribe and the company have been in settlement talks for at least a month. If a deal is reached, about 10 construction subcontractors will be paid.
