Tribes in Kansas have donated more than $900,000 to state politicians since 2000, The Kansas City Star reports.
The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation contributed the most, giving $250,000 over three years. The tribe's gaming partner, Harrah's Entertainment, made $86,000 in donations. The tribes comply with limits imposed by the state. Non-Indian gaming interests have made significant contributions as well. Since 2000 they have spent at least $293,000 on state politicians. Overall, contributions by gaming interests have increased more than 300 percent, the paper said. Get the Story:
