Mississippi Choctaw chief touts off-reservation casino
Wednesday, July 12, 2006
An off-reservation casino will help the entire state of Mississippi, Choctaw Chief Phillip Martin says.
Martin says a casino on the Gulf Coast in Jackson County will revitalize the economy and create jobs. The area was affected by Hurricane Katrina.
The tribe operates a printing plant in Ocean Springs. Its business reportedly suffered after the hurricane.
In hopes of generating more revenue, the tribe hopes to open a casino next to the printing plant. The tribe has submitted an application to use 100 acres near Interstate 10 for gaming purposes.
