Rep. Richard Pombo (R-California), the chairman of the House Resources Committee, canceled his "casino night" fundraiser that was scheduled to take place next week.
Pombo decided to cancel the event because it coincides with a markup on a bill to restrict Indian gaming, a spokesperson said. "They didn't think it really looked that good," the spokesperson told The Stockton Record. Pombo has accepted more than $500,000 from tribes. He is sponsoring H.R.4893, a bill to restrict the ability of tribes to place land in trust for gaming purposes. Get the Story:
