Q&A with gaming CEO for Pascua Yaqui Tribe

Monday, December 11, 2006

The Arizona Daily Star sat down with Wendell Long, the gaming CEO for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe of Arizona.

Long, 43, is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. He is the first American Indian to head the Yaqui gaming enterprise.

Long said he hopes to be the last non-Yaqui to hold the position. Half of the casino employees are Indian.

"It's important and our responsibility to move as many tribal members into other posts — as managers and then as CEO. My job isn't complete until we have someone from the tribe sitting in that CEO seat, and I want to stay until that's completed," he told the paper.
