BIA takes land into trust for Michigan tribe's casino
Wednesday, December 13, 2006
The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi of Michigan got one step closer to a casino on Tuesday.
The tribe's 79-acre property in Emmett Township was finally taken into trust by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The move came after nearly four years of litigation by an anti-casino group.
Citizens Exposing Truth About Casinos still has one more appeal against the land acquisition. But the tribe says it is moving ahead with construction of the casino.
