Litigation isn't stopping the Spokane Tribe from completing its long-awaited casino in Washington.
The $400 million facility -- to be known as the Spokane Tribe Casino -- will feature 450 slot machines, 12 table games, a restaurant, a deli, and a gaming floor bar. It's due to open later this year in Airway Heights, right outside the city of Spokane. “Our ancestral homelands spread across more than 3 million acres, including Airway Heights and much of the Spokane region,” Chair Carol Evans said in a press release in which the name and logo were announced “This name honors our heritage, our history, and our ties to the land.” Despite the tribe's ties, opponents are hoping to derail the project in federal court. The Kalispel Tribe, whose leaders operate the Northern Quest Resort and Casino at a site in Airway Heights less than three miles away, are suing the Trump administration and officials in Spokane County have voted to do the same.
