Pinoleville Pomo Nation buys site of long-delayed casino project

The Pinoleville Pomo Nation might be reviving plans for a long-delayed casino in northern California.

The tribe announced the $50 million project in 2009, signed a Class III gaming compact with the state and secured a favorable Indian lands opinion from the National Indian Gaming Commission. But questions arose after the 8.8-acre property in Ukiah was put up for sale last year.

The tribe has since purchased the site for $2.24 million, The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat reported. The land is located within the boundaries of the tribe's original reservation.
