The Seminole Tribe is being accused of breaking a contract with a retail outlet at one of its casinos in Florida.

The tribe is shutting down the Seminole Paradise entertainment and retail area as part of an expansion at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood. One outlet has been told to leave next month but claims it should be allowed to stay longer based on a contract signed in 2014, according to news reports.

“They promised it would be an enclosed mall, that it was going to be great,” Malka Livingston, a co-owner of Resorts Wear, told The South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “They didn’t tell us there were any plans to demolish it.”

The tribe offered a settlement to Livingston and her brother, the other owner, the paper reported. But the siblings apparently rejected it and the matter is now in mediation.

The tribe is adding a new retail area, a hotel, restaurants and other amenities as part of the expansion in Hollywood.
