The
Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa
and Chippewa Indians shared more than $722,000 in gaming revenues with communities in Michigan.
Under a consent decree in federal court, the tribe shares 2 percent of slot machine revenues with non-profits, charities and governmental units, including public schools, in a six-county area. Distributions occur twice a year -- in the winter and the summer.
Since 1994, the tribe has shared nearly $34.7 million, Up North Live reported.
