The Tule River Tribe of California has revived plans to relocate its casino.
The tribe has been wanting to move the Eagle Mountain
Casino for several years. A land-into-trust application was withdrawn in 2013 due to local opposition.
But Chairman Neil Peyron said negotiations are underway to move the facility to a site near the Porterville Fairgrounds. Plans for a 250-room hotel and a convention center were disclosed in the tribe's June/July newsletter, The Visalia Times-Delta reported.
The tribe owns 40 acres within the Porterville
Airport Industrial Park. The site is about 20 miles from Eagle Mountain and would put the casino a lot closer to the city and to major highways.
