The Karuk Tribe of California is breaking ground on its long-awaited casino next Friday.
The 36,000 square-foot Rain Rock Casino in Yreka will have space for 500 gaming machines, eight table games, a 100-seat restaurant and on-site parking. It's expected to open in May 2017.
A second phase is in the works and will include a hotel and more gaming space. The tribe hasn't said when that might happen.
