The Cherokee Nation is already celebrating a construction milestone for its newest gaming facility.
The tribe broke ground on the 39,000 square-foot Cherokee Casino Grove in March. Construction is ahead of schedule and a topping-off ceremony will be held on Monday, The Grand Lake News reported.
"We're a week ahead of construction schedule because we're moving quickly on it," Shawn Slaton, the CEO of Cherokee Nation Businesses, told the paper.
Slaton said the facility -- the 10th in the the tribe's empire -- is on track to open late in the year or early next year.
