The Kaw Nation of Oklahoma has been recognized for its gaming efforts.
Kaw Gaming, Inc. received the Tribal Gaming Visionary award from the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development. The award recognizes the economic and employment impacts of the tribe's SouthWind Casino enterprise.
“We are so honored to bring this prestigious award home to Oklahoma,”
said Chief Operating Officer Pam Shaw of Kaw Gaming, Indian Country Today reported. “I am so proud of our tribal leadership for their visionary efforts that are setting an example for tribes around the country.”
The SouthWind family includes a facility in Braman that recently celebrated an expansion. That casino is the first in Oklahoma to open under the two-part determination provisions of the Indian
Gaming Regulatory Act.
The Tribal Gaming Visionary award was presented during the NCAIED's Reservation Economic Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada, in March.
