The Poarch Band of Creek Indians continues to look beyond Alabama to expand its gaming portfolio.

The Poarch Creek Indian Gaming Authority just acquired a property in D'Iberville, Mississippi, that already has been approved to host a commercial casino. The tribe, though, isn't confirming that it will follow through with such a development.

"This particular property was brought to our attention and after evaluation we felt it represented an excellent investment opportunity that, regardless whether we pursue development now, in the future, or never, the land holds its value," the authority said in a statement quoted by news outlets.

The tribe operates Class II gaming facilities on its reservation in Alabama and holds racetrack licenses in neighboring Florida. The tribe also has partnered with the Washoe Tribe on a unique project in Nevada.
