The Seminole Nation of Oklahoma is taking steps to address issues raised by the National Indian Gaming Commission, The Ada News reports.
Chief Leonard Harjo told the paper that the Seminole Nation Gaming Commission is now under the supervision of the executive branch. He expects to finalize a plan within the next few weeks to address employee turnover, training and other compliance concerns.
“We believe we’ll be able to resolve the issue without a fine or closure,” Harjo told the paper.
The situation apparently has not yet risen to an enforcement action. The tribe has been hit with at least 13 notices since 1998, according to the NIGC's website.
The tribe operates three Seminole Nation Gaming Enterprise locations.
