The Santa Ynez Band of
Chumash Indians of California is holding a job fair on Wednesday to fill more than 200 new positions at its casino.
The new hires are needed as the tribe completes a $160 million expansion of the Chumash Casino Resort. The work is due to be unveiled in mid-May.
"This portion of the project means a lot to the tribe because it’s providing more job opportunities for members of the community,” Chairman Vincent Armenta said in a press release posted by The Santa Barbara Independent. “Our tribe takes pride in being one of the largest employers in Santa Barbara County, and the growth of our enterprise brings significant benefits to the community.”
The expansion features a 12-story hotel tower with 215 rooms, 75,000 additional square-feet of gaming space, a 20,000 square-foot pool deck, new food and beverage venues and a parking garage with 584 spaces.
