Nottawaseppi Huron Band shares a record $21.9M in gaming revenues

The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the
Potawatomi shared a record $21.9 million in gaming revenues with the state and local communities in Michigan.
The tribe contributed $16.6 million from the FireKeepers Casino Hotel to the state. That's 7.8 percent higher than the payment from last year. Another $5.3 million went to local communities, a 5.3 percent increase.
"Today, the sovereign nation of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi and its principal economic engine, FireKeepers Casino Hotel, announce its single largest compact contribution of $22 million dollars to the State of Michigan and the FireKeepers Local Revenue Sharing Board. We take great honor fulfilling a promise of our original intentions before the first brick was laid," Chairman Homer Mandoka said in a press release.

Under the Class III gaming compact, 2 percent of net winnings from electronic machines at the casino go to the community. Another 8 percent goes to the state.
Since August 2009, the tribe has shared more than $122 million.
