The Navajo Nation entered the gaming industry in 2008 and the tribe has generated jobs and created opportunities across the reservation.
But the 110 chapter governments have yet to see their share of the tribe's gaming revenues. The fund has grown to $6 million but none of that money has made it to the local communities.
"The casinos have been operating for almost eight years and the chapters still have not received one dime from the revenues," Navajo Nation Council Delegate Seth Damon said in a press release. He hopes to work with fellow lawmakers to address the process in which the chapters are supposed to receive the funds.
The tribe operates four gaming facilities -- three in New Mexico and one in Arizona. A fourth is being planned in New Mexico.
