California Nations Indian Gaming Association elects leadership

The California Nations Indian Gaming Association has a new slate of leaders.

Steve Stallings, a council member of the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians, was elected chairman of the organization. He previously served as treasurer.

"I am honored to serve as CNIGA's chairman," Stallings said in a press release. "I follow a long line of respected tribal leaders and vow to continue their work in protecting the inherent sovereign rights of California's tribal governments."

Stallings succeeds Daniel J. Tucker, the former longtime chairman of CNIGA. Tucker retired from the post, according to the press release.

CNIGA's new vice chair is Damon Sandoval, a council member from the Morongo Band of Mission Indians. He previously served as an area representative.

Dennis Hendricks, a council member from the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians, was re-elected treasurer. He is in his third consecutive term.

CNIGA represents more than than 30 tribes in the state. The organization will hold its annual Western Indian Gaming Conference in February 2016.
