The Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians reached a deal with the city of Temecula, California, for its $285 million casino expansion project.

The tribe agreed to pay $14.4 million for a new highway off-ramp, $5.5 million to widen a street that leads to the Pechanga Resort & Casino and $125,000 for other infrastructure improvements, The Riverside Press-Enterprise reported. The deal also requires a $289,000 annual payment for the costs of a new police officer position, the paper said.

The expansion includes a new hotel wing with 548 rooms, a 67,000 square-foot events center, a 23,000-square-foot building with a spa, salon and fitness center and a four-acre pool complex. Chairman Marc Macarro said a ceremonial groundbreaking is set for sometime this month, the Press-Enterprise reported.
