The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde are open to possibilities -- including gaming -- at the site of a former racetrack in Oregon.
The tribe purchased the 31-acre Multnomah
Greyhound Park in Wood Village for an undisclosed price.
Chairman Reyn Leno said the site might be used for gaming as long as it doesn't harm the existing Spirit Mountain Casino.
"We'll look at all the options we've got on the table for it, and look at Wood Village, but we can't just build a big, huge casino there and have an empty building at Spirit Mountain," Leno told The Portland Tribune.
Wood Village is located just outside Portland, where a significant number of tribal members live. It's also within the tribe's treaty ceded territory, Smoke Signals, the tribe's newspaper, reported.
Spirit Mountain is about 60 miles from Portland, the state's most populous city.
