Tribal gaming grew 116 percent between 2001 and 2013, according to Casino City's North American Gaming Almanac.
Tribal facilities generated $28.3 billion in revenues in 2013, according to the report. Tribes in California were responsible for $7 billion, or about one quarter of that amount, The Reno Gazette-Journal said.
Oklahoma was second with $3.77 billion, followed by Florida with $2.33 billion. Washington ranked fourth, with $2.32 billion in revenues, and Arizona rounded out the top five with $1.81 billion.
The commercial casino market continues to represent a larger segment in North America, with $96.4 billion in revenues in 2013, according to the almanac. The rate of growth was 41 percent, far lower than the one seen in Indian Country.
