The Jamul Indian Village
of California has a new leader who welcomes the tribe's $360 million casino development.
Chairwoman Erica Pinto is the first woman to lead the tribe. She has served on the council since 1994 and helped the $360 million Hollywood
Casino Jamul became a reality.
“The community will benefit as well,” Pinto told East County Magazine. “There will be safer roads, a state-of-the-art fire station and more than a thousand new jobs.”
The tribe broke ground in January 2014. The 200,000 square-foot facility will feature
over 1,700 slot machines, 50 table games, restaurants, bars, lounges and a
1,900-space parking garage.
The casino will open in mid-2016, general manager Richard St. Jean told East County Magazine.
