Former Menominee Nation off-reservation casino site for sale

The site where the Menominee Nation of Wisconsin wanted to open an off-reservation casino is on the market.

The tribe's dreams of an $800 million Hard Rock Casino were dashed by Gov. Scott Walker (R) earlier this year. The facility would have been located on a 221-acre property in Kenosha.

"We hate to be in this position. We should be up there for the opening of the Hard Rock casino," Michael Hallman, a vice president of Dairyland Greyhound Park, a racetrack that once operated at the site, told The Milwaukee Business Journal.

The tribe has said might be interested in pursuing an off-reservation casino in Illinois. Walker, meanwhile, is seeking the Republican nomination for president.
