Arizona tribes see growth in casino revenue for another quarter

The tribal gaming industry grew for the fourth consecutive quarter, the Arizona Department of Gaming reported on Friday.

Tribes shared about $25.8 million with the state for the quarter that ended June 30. That represents a 4.5 percent increase when compared to the same period in 2014.

"Over the past year we have seen encouraging and steady growth in the quarterly tribal gaming contributions and these small increases can lead to a larger impact for State programs,” Daniel Bergin, the director of the department, said in a press release. “Our agency considers these new numbers not only encouraging, but an overall win for tribes and the state.”

Sixteen tribes operate 23 casinos in the state, according to the department. Since 2004, they have shared more than $1 billion with the state.
