Mississippi Choctaws want to add table games to satellite casino

The newly re-elected leader of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians vowed to make improvements in the tribe's gaming enterprise within the next 100 days.

Chief Phyllis Anderson, who just won a second term in office, plans to add table games to the Bok Homa Casino. The facility currently offers slot machines and other electronic gaming devices.

Bok Homa is located in Heidelberg on a non-contiguous portion of the reservation. The site is about 82 miles from Choctaw headquarters in Philadelphia, where the tribe operates the Golden Moon Hotel and Casino and Silver Star Hotel and Casino as part of the Pearl River Resort.

By bringing in table games, Anderson hopes to create 70 new jobs at the casino. She's also planning to open a new bingo room at Pearl River and create a dealer training program.

Additionally, Anderson wants to raise the minimum wage for non-tipped employees at the resort.
