Connecticut's two federally recognized tribes pay out an average of 91.77 percent of the money put into their slot machines, NBC Connecticut reports.
Citing figures from the Connecticut Gaming Division, the station said the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation pays out 91.85 percent while the Mohegan Tribe pays out 91.71 percent.
The figures place Connecticut eighth among the states that disclose slot payout rates, NBC Connecticut reported. Commercial facilities in New York had the highest rate -- 93.75 percent -- followed by 93.54 in Nevada.
The two tribes in Connecticut have seen slot winnings dwindle in the wake of the 2008 national recession. They are also facing more competition from gaming facilities in New York and Massachusetts.
The two tribes plan to open a new facility near the Massachusetts border to try and keep more gaming dollars at home.
