The Bishop Paiute
Tribe of California is moving forward with controversial casino expansion plans.
The tribe plans to spend $30 million to expand the Paiute Palace Casino. The facility will see a larger gaming floor, more parking spaces and a third story that would connect to a hotel with 80 to 100 rooms, The Sheet reported.
The tribe will be seeking a loan to finance the project, the Sheet reported. But leaders have been quiet on the details because a majority of the membership is against an expansion.

"The estimated time period for the project is 18 months if not sooner," the tribe said in its May 2015 newsletter. "Given this we can expect to have a newly upgraded casino and new hotel in early 2017."
The tribe has taken over a land assignment adjacent to the casino as part of its development plan. A group called Save North Pa Ha opposes the project.
