Mashantucket Tribe wins local vote for casino in Massachusetts

Voters in New Bedford, Massachusetts, approved plans to host a commercial casino in their city.
KG Urban Enterprises, a non-Indian firm, plans to build the $650 million facility on the waterfront. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal
Nation will manage the project.
The plan still needs approval from the Massachusetts Gaming
Commission. There is no guarantee the project will will the license for the southeastern part of the state.
The Mashpee Wampanoag
Tribe is first in line for the region. But the First
Light Resort and Casino has yet to gain approval from the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
