The Forest County Potawatomi
Community has acquired two properties adjacent to its casino.
The tribe bought a 2.7-acre site on the eastern side of the Potawatomi Hotel and Casino and another 6.5-acre site on the western side, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. Plans haven't been determined but they won't include gaming.
"The tribe will now begin a planning process to determine the property’s highest and best use which fits the needs of the tribe, the Menomonee Valley and the city of Milwaukee," the tribe said in a statement to the paper.
The tribe won't be seeking trust status for the land and will continue paying property taxes, the paper said.
