Pojoaque Pueblo places casino manager on administrative leave

Pojoaque Pueblo in New Mexico has placed a casino general manager on administrative leave and another top executive resigned because of it.

Tribal leaders won't say why Mark Schrecengost, who has been managing Buffalo Thunder Resort since 2012, was placed on leave. Initially, though, he was going to be fired, The Santa Fe New Mexican reported.

Allen Mosley, the former CEO of Pueblo of Pojoaque Business Enterprise, was told to deliver a letter firing Schrecengost, the paper said. When he did that, he was placed on administrative leave but ended up resigning in protest of the way the situation was being handled.

“There was no reason given,” Mosely, who has worked for the tribe for 19 years, told the paper of his leave. “It was indefinite. So I gave my resignation almost immediately after that.”

Instead of being fired, Schrecengost was placed on leave.
