The Suquamish Tribe of Washington will see improvements at the intersection leading to its casino after reaching a deal with a local transit agency.

The tribe will lease spaces in the parking lot at the Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort to Kitsap Transit. The deal frees the agency from having to replace the park-and-ride lot directly across from the facility on Highway 305.

The deal also enables the state of Washington to make improvements to the highway. A new turn lane and a driveway will be added to enable patrons to get in and out of the casino more easily.

The project is expected to be completed sometime in 2016. In the meantime, the tribe will be debuting a $30 million expansion to the casino in June.

The tribe added 98 hotel rooms, a cafe, steakhouse and a 10,000-square-foot conference center to the facility.
