The Fort Peck Tribes of Montana are hoping to tap into the Bakken energy boom but not by exploiting their natural resources.

Instead, the tribe is placing the Buffalo Rivers Casino and Lodge in a strategic location on the eastern end of the reservation. The site in Fort Kipp sits near two highways that see large amounts of traffic from energy-related activities in neighboring North Dakota and even from Canada, The Billings Gazette reported.

The casino will be located about 50 miles from Williston, North Dakota, the city that's considered the center of the energy explosion. And it's only a few miles from Culbertson, Montana, which has seen a huge increase in the number of hotel beds, the Gazette reported.

Buffalo Rivers will include a 75-room hotel. A groundbreaking is set for June 15.
