The New Mexico Legislature's Committee on Compacts held a hearing this morning to discuss an updated version of the Class III gaming compact.

The Navajo Nation, the Jicarilla Apache Nation, the Mescalero Apache Nation, Acoma Pueblo and Jemez Pueblo signed the agreement. It includes new provisions affecting revenue sharing, free play, operating hours and newly acquired lands.

Lawmakers plan to move quickly because existing compacts with four of the tribes expire at the end of June. A copy of the new agreement can be found on the committee's website.
