The Kansas Lottery Commission extended the deadline for a commercial casino in the southeast part of the state.
The Quapaw Tribe and its partner now have until January 30, 2015, to submit an application. They plan to turn the defunct Camptown Greyhound Park in Crawford County into a casino.
The site is 40 miles south of the Downstream Casino Resort. The tribe is planning a $15 million expansion of that facility by extending the gaming portion into Kansas.
Another developer also plans to bid on the license. A Nevada-based company wants to build the $130 million Castle Rock Casino Resort in
Cherokee County at a site less than a mile from Downstream.
