Oklahoma newspaper praises the Cherokee Nation for creating jobs and revenue with plans for an entertainment district and outlet center next to the Hard Rock Hotel &
Casino:
It’s hard to argue with 1,000 new jobs.
Cherokee Nation Businesses announced this week that it has leased property west of its Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa to commercial real estate developer Woodmont Outlets for a potential upscale retail development.
The Fort Worth-based developer plans to invest $80 million into a premium outlet development — “Cherokee Outlets.”
Meanwhile, the tribe will create an entertainment and dining zone to connect the upscale shops to the casino. That all adds up to an estimated 1,000 permanent jobs.
The tribe already had an impressive and increasingly popular destination. The shopping and entertainment additions will only further the burgeoning development that is bringing tourists to the area and spurring the local economy.
