The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal
Nation of Connecticut will open a new retail concourse at its casino on Friday.
The concourse at the Foxwoods Resort Casino features clothing, electronics, food and Native arts and crafts.
It's part of a $15 million makeover of retail, food and beverage areas at the facility, The New Haven Register reported.
The tribe is also opening a $120 million outlet mall at the casino. An opening date hasn't been scheduled.
“This is an amazing event for the Foxwoods community as we continue to deliver exciting new entertainment venues for our guests. The modern, well-appointed stores completely revitalize the resort’s shopping experience both in terms of atmosphere and product offerings,” said Foxwoods President and CEO Scott Butera said in a press release. “Furthermore, the addition of these retail stores, along with the planned opening of the Tanger Outlets next spring, will solidify Foxwoods as the preeminent shopping destination in the area.”
Meanwhile, the tribe said it is in talks with creditors regarding $1.7 billion in casino-related debt.
