The Muscogee Nation
of Oklahoma has encountered some delays with its $335 million casino expansion project.
The tribe is adding a 26-story hotel to the River Spirit Casino. The
expansion includes a new gaming area, an entertainment venue, a convention
center, a spa, a pool, a theater and restaurants in partnership with Jimmy
Buffett's Margaritaville brand
Construction has begun but the tribe is waiting on a permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers because part of the facility will be built over a stream bed.
That means the project likely won't be done until early 2016 rather than mid-2015 as anticipated, Chief George Tiger said.
“As anyone who’s ever done business with federal government knows, those wheels of motion sometimes aren’t very quick — and I’m not saying that disrespectfully,” Tiger told The Tulsa World.
