A federal judge granted a preliminary injunction affecting the casino owned by the Paskenta
Band of Nomlaki Indians after rival factions agreed to an election that could finally end their dispute.
The injunction bars the factions from interfering with operations at the Rolling Hills Casino.
Judge Kimberly J. Mueller agreed that the leadership dispute poses "an ongoing threat to the public health, safety and welfare."
But the dispute appears to be coming to an end. Both factions agreed to conduct a September 13 election and to abide by the results.
The parties -- including the state of California, which requested the injunction -- are due back in court on October 2.
