The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal
Nation of Connecticut is no longer in the running for a commercial casino
in New York.
The tribe proposed the $400 million Foxwoods Catskills Resort
Casino in the Catskills region. But plans were killed due to competition from a bidder closer to New York City,
That same competitor also prompted the
Stockbridge Munsee Band of
Mohican Indians of Wisconsin to withdraw ts commercial casino bid for the Catskills.
The tribe was pursuing an off-reservation casino under the Indian
Gaming Regulatory Act but that too appears to be over.
The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut is still in the running for the Catskills. The region is expected to be awarded two licenses.
The Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma is part of a project for a commercial casino in the Albany region.
