The Karuk Tribe of California is negotiating intergovernmental agreements for its casino.
The tribe hoped to break ground on phase one of the project sometime this summer. But talks with Siskiyou County and the city of Yreka appear to be moving slowly.
The tribe offered $100,000 to the county to address impacts in law enforcement and the justice system, The Siskiyou Daily News reported. But the county wants a lot more -- $416,000, to be exact -- the paper said.
The tribe must complete the agreements as part of its Class III gaming compact, which has yet to be ratified by the Legislature.
